The Holiday Inn & Suites Bolingbrook is looking for a Director of Sales & Marketing

Be the leader of our fantastic sales team in a great market with growth opportunity at a well-loved property featuring 145 guestrooms over 4,000 sf of event space.

Sales Managers are the spirited, persistent, and competitive force behind hotel revenue generation, responsible for identifying prospective clientele and actively soliciting new business, effectively negotiating and selling a complete solution, supporting client needs throughout the sales process, and booking repeat business by exceeding client expectations. The DOS will have direct responsibility for contracting and negotiating with local corporate offices to setup negotiated rates. The DOS will oversee a team that consists of our SMERF Sales Manager and our Catering Manager as well as assisting other departments as requested by hotel management.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure that sales activities meet or exceed budgeted revenue for the hotel overall and for identified areas or personal responsibility.
  • Set goals and formulate action plans for soliciting and maintaining business based on the targeted market segments focusing on key result areas as defined in the hotel business plan.
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies for new and existing accounts that will result in meeting and/or exceeding budgeted revenue goals.
  • Proactively solicit and secure business from new and prospective clients through telemarketing, networking, cold calling, and using proven sales strategies aligned with the hotel's brand and vision.
  • Utilizing business tools and first-hand observation, analyze market competition, market trends, and identify client needs.
  • Manage client contract process including negotiation, provisions, and supplemental solution selling, capturing all information necessary for execution and billing.
  • Coordinate and conduct site tours emphasizing features to meet client needs and opportunities to enhance overall satisfaction.
  • Engage in purposeful communication and build long-lasting rapport with clients, creating an open dialogue to uncover client expectations and needs.
  • Actively participate and communicate with diverse community groups and organizations as a representative of the hotel in order to develop positive relationships with community representatives and networking opportunities that will result in business leads from these groups.
  • Promote hotel brand loyalty programs, encourage client participation, and offer special rate packages and upgrades when appropriate.
  • Effectively communicate with hotel departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of client expectations, fulfillment of needs, and challenge resolution.
  • Maintain professionalism consistent with hotel brand and company expectations.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned and/or designated by hotel’s General Manager.

Skills:

· 3+ years of hotel sales experience; Local market knowledge a plus

  • Working knowledge of SalesForce and Opera a plus, but not required.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Must possess computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess sales mentality, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
  • Must be effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems, as necessary.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers, guests and clients.
  • Must be available and able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as occasionally needed based on business demand and client needs.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage menus, food preparation and presentation.
  • Ability to act independently with minimal or no supervision
  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly
  • Ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints independently.
  • Ability to establish and master goals.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, pro-active, energized and professional demeanor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
